GrafTech advances entry into the EV market with Texas permit approval

GrafTech International Ltd (EAF) just unveiled an announcement.

GrafTech International Ltd. has received approval from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality for a permit modification for its subsidiary Seadrift Coke LP. This green light paves the way for potential expansion of Seadrift’s plant in Texas, which produces petroleum needle coke – a critical component in the production of graphite electrodes and synthetic graphite for electric vehicle batteries. This move is in line with GrafTech’s strategic focus on tapping into the fast-growing electric vehicle market.
